The Spiritual Awakening Journey: From Ego to True Self
The journey of awakening is different for every person. It depends on each soul’s unique path, life lessons, choices, and experiences. Most people come into this world without remembering who they truly are on a spiritual level. We are born into what is often called the ego, or separate identity, a kind of false self created through human experience. Our True Self, what many now call the Higher Self or the I AM Presence, often remains hidden or disconnected for much of our lives. Because of this, as children, we really do not know who we are beyond what we are taught. We only know what society, culture, and the world around us tell us about ourselves. From a very young age, we begin forming our identity through our parents, family, schools, religion, relationships, and even media and pop culture.
